Unity vs Unreal — Which Engine Should You Learn for Game Dev Jobs?
I came across a YouTube video claiming you absolutely must use Unreal to get a job.
The video's summary was basically "There are hardly any companies using Unity, and the trend is declining..."
Let me cut to the conclusion first: based on Jobplanet and Saramin (Korean job boards), Unity job postings outnumber Unreal by roughly 4 to 1.
For mid-size companies and above, both engines are being hired for.
I'm not a Unity employee and I have no reason to defend them. But I can't stand by and watch baseless content being presented as industry truth to people just starting out in game dev or job seekers making critical life decisions.
Programming languages are tools. Engines are tools. What kind of company would say in an interview, "You can only use C#? You can't do C++?" Interviewers know better than anyone that if you're proficient in one language, you can pick up another quickly.
